Driving the Bus
Driving the bus is much harder than it looks I must say. My first day on the job was a complete disaster. I had a bunch of kids that didn't know where they lived or missed their stop or the parents weren't there, and it was HOT, HOT, HOT!!! (yeah, no AC in the buses, even here in Alabama) Long story short, I was 1/2 hour late to the primary school and had parents wondering where their kids were, and finally got to the bus barn at 4:20pm. Primary school gets out at 3:00pm. Needless to say me, Hailey, Alicia, and Emma and my monitor Dana were dripping in sweat, and completely exhausted. Friday was better although I made a minor driving mistake, but it was enough to send me over the edge and the tears came in buckets. You feel a tremendous responsibility for those children and you want them to be safe. It's been a few days now since my last infraction, and I am doing much better. I am getting more comfortable and am learning the kids' names and their parents. Today is early day, so I hope the parents remember to be at the bus stop earlier than normal.... On the good side of things, all my girls are in school all day now.... What's a mama to do? I can't believe that Emma is in kindergarden now. I keep myself busy cleaning house and I now excersize at the gym every morning for about 1 hour after work and that's been really fun. Now the question is.... can I keep it up???
